Children and Young People - Residential to the World Snooker Championships, the Crucible, Sheffield


The Children and young people that attend the Sutton Leisure and Sports youth activities were treat to a residential weekend of World championship snooker at the Crucible, Sheffield  at the end of April.


The residential was funded by the Youth Opportunities Fund and was organised by Danny Pointon (youth Worker for Hull City Council) with support from colleagues from the youth service, and volunteers from Sutton Leisure and Sports. 


The children and young people stayed in the Premier Inn in the Sheffield and as well as the championship snooker enjoyed a stroll through the very impressive Sheffield Town Centre, where the went on a massive Ferris wheel, did a bit of shopping and played some snooker on temporary tables located near to the Crucible.




The World Championship snooker took centre stage of the weekends activities and Children and young people watched the match between Mark Allan and new player Tom Ford.


After the games the young people gained several autographs and photos of the top players. It’s good to see that snooker is one sport where the professional players can still make time for the fans!
